Anglian Employee’s Help Break Zumba World Record in Norwich

Thanks to the dance craze Zumba, a world record has been broken in Norwich for the longest ever Zumba session by dance enthusiasts, including three of our very own Anglian employees in Marketing & Call Centre.

Dawn Belcher (left),  Tania Paul (right) & Kim Bowthorpe (center) took part in the record breaking attempt yesterday at Riverside’s Project nightclub. The event started at 8a.m and carried on till 8p.m. That’s an amazing 12 hours straight of dancing!

Zumba Girls Who Helped Break World Record

When asked about the Zumba session Dawn said “It was a brilliant experience, the whole place was buzzing with excitement. It was amazing to be part of it!”

Sallie-Anne Sadler who organised this said “We got our world record for the longest Zumba session and we also got a second record, for the most number of dancers dancing for 12 hours with no break. All the instructors brought in their playlist and we had a DJ putting them together. The dance floor did not stop all day. We are all very tired but everyone had a fantastic day.”

In total 862 people took part and to become qualified for the record, they had to have 20 people to enter the dance floor every 30 minutes with each person dancing for at least half an hour.

Roughly £2000 was raised for the event and will be donated to East Anglian Air Ambulance.

For those of you who are not sure what Zumba is, it’s a Latin-inspired dance fitness program which includes aerobic elements with hip-hop, samba, salsa and martial arts moves. I’ve been a few times at my local high school and they are very fun and addictive!
