RHS Britain in Bloom – Luddenden Progress

Anglian Home Improvements were this year’s official sponsors of the RHS Britain in Bloom, supporting the communities to get the best out of the area they live in. Luddenden in Bloom have been working hard with the grant given to them by Anglian, putting it towards improving St Mary’s Churchyard and the Jubilee Car Park.

St Mary’s churchyard was quite overgrown, but it is now weed free and filled with perennials and spring bulbs.

The Jubilee car park was opened in 2002 for HM The Queen’s Golden Jubilee, but over recent years it had become somewhat tired and after the damage of last winter, it was in need of a good re-vamp.

Several old lavenders have now been replaced at the front of the car park with more to follow in the central bed. Other shrubs will be replaced soon, along with replacing the soil in various beds, with new top soil being placed as soon as the “bloomers” are ready for their next agriculture party.

The Luddenden in Bloom team worked extremely hard over the last few months, but it all paid off as they won in the Village Category, scooping a Gold Medal too! Great work everybody.
