Oxjam Festival Norwich 2011
It’s been almost a week since the Oxjam Festival in Norwich which was sponsored by Anglian Home Improvements took place in Karma Kafe, but the festival is still going strong throughout the UK during the month of October! So many bands and solo artists are performing their hearts out, across the country to help the charity, Oxfam, and also to try and make a name for themselves as well.
Today, Swindon will be hosting their Oxjam festival at the Vic, they are hoping to raise £600 (no, not the one in Eastenders!) and also Streatham at the White Lion too, will be also hosting their festival and are aiming to raise £200.
Last Friday saw Norwich come alive with a whole array of bands, solo artists and DJ’s performing all under one roof at the popular bar, Karma Kafe. It was safe to say that all three levels of the bar was packed and was full to the brim with fantastic talent! A few that I managed to watch were:
Riot On The Third Floor – to read their interview, click here.
Subminor – to see his interview & a small performance, click here.
Crumbs for Comfort – to read their interview, click here.
Dove & Boweevil – to watch the interview with Lauren Dove, click here.
Scott Wright – to watch his interview and perfomance, click here.
Solko – to watch their interview and performance, click here.
Kodeta – to watch the interview with one of their band members, Jack, click here.
Chasing Tigers – to read their interview, click here
And so many more…..
The amount of talent that was performing on Friday was unbelievable and the atmosphere was amazing! Due to some technical issues, some of the bands had to start a little later than planned, but luckily no one was fazed about it. To hear so many new, fresh bands and artists was most certainly a treat for me and I didn’t want the night to end.
An added bonus to the night was that one of the band members, Bill Downs from The Tracks, were recording a music video for their new release – People in The Night, which features the front man from Cielo, Arnob Basit. Their single is available to download from iTunes now.
Also, the Oxjam Norwich festival has created an EP which can also be downloaded from iTunes, that features songs from 10 of the acts that were performing and is called ‘Oxjam Norwich – Instant Karma 2011‘ and all proceeds will be donated to the charity.
Overall, the festival managed to raise a whooping£1930.31! So very big congratulations to all the guys and gals who organized it and made it a huge success. I wonder what next years will be like?
