Would You Build a Conservatory Without Professional Help?
New research shows that only a shocking 13 % of Brits would employ a professional tradesman to build their conservatory or other types of home extensions. I understand that Britain is a country who loves their DIY but “doing it yourself” with particular products is seriously asking for trouble, especially with big home improvement projects such as this.
According to a survey by Wickes, more Brits would opt for a skilled tradesman to help them with laying new flooring, while nearly twice as many would get a tradesman to do any painting or decorating. In my opinion, this doesn’t make sense as with big projects like conservatories, you are more likely to put yourself at risk if you have not been fully trained in this particular industry.
Apparently, women have appeared to be more keen than men to get involved with certain DIY jobs around the house, with nearly an outstanding three-quarters of women planning on getting involved compared to just 66 % of men. Now if that’s not a win for the girls, then I honestly don’t know what is! I reckon this could be because many of these women may have become tired of asking their husband or partner to put that shelf up in the bathroom three months ago and it’s still sitting there within its original box, untouched.
Personally, I don’t have this problem as my boyfriend loves doing these little jobs around the house. I always ask him if he would like my help, but his normal response is, “No thanks, you’ll only just get in the way.” Which I then respond with storming out of the room in a huff, and turning the television on to an annoying programme that I know he hates.
