Farmers Want Solar
Forum for the Future has found that in the UK 80% of farmers want to have photovoltaic solar panels installed onto their properties, barns and any other buildings around their farm, all within the next three years.
There are more and more stories cropping up about farmers utilising their farm buildings by installing solar panels, possibly inspired by Michael Eavis’ idea for Glastonbury Festival.
Four in five farmers want to have photovoltaics installed by 2013 to generate their own power.
November saw farmers from all over the country visit Mr Eavis new solar barn for a Farming Futures workshop to give them a better understanding on solar panels and how they can upgrade their farms.
By installing these solar panels on the roofs of their buildings they could potentially earn themselves a hefty £6,500 a year, depending on how many photovoltaic solar panels they install.
