Scrappage Scheme finished for cars but still running for windows!

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

The Blog team has seen in the news today that the scrappage scheme enabling people to scrap their old car for £2000 towards a new one has ended. This scheme was introduced in May and proved very popular, figures showing that scrappage contributed to about 20% of all new car registrations since the scheme started, according to the Business Department.

Our very own scrappage scheme, the £2500 Anglian Window Scrappage Scheme is still running and continues to enable you to get two and a half grand off your new energy efficient double glazing with us. Not only will your house look beautiful with a new set of windows, you can save money on your heating and save energy too! To find out more, visit our scrappage scheme page or see below.

Just look at the evidence

To demonstrate we took thermal images of an ordinary house before and after fitting it with our B-rated energy saving windows. The heat escaping through the windows shows up as intense red areas, and you can clearly see in the thermal image of the Anglian windows, that the heat loss areas have disappeared, showing vastly improved heat retention.

Scrappage Scheme

You can also get 35% off your replacement windows as well as the £2500 for recycling your old ones.

We recently got involved with a Number 10 petition to help homeowners to scrap their old poorly insulated windows for a cash incentive of £1,000 to be used against the purchase of new  energy efficient windows. The petition has closed but 4468 signatures were gained and we expect to see a response from the government soon!

The blog team visited the Ideal Home Show this week and have taken loads of pictures to show you what a great spectacle it was!

The executive house with Anglian Verandah concept

The Anglian Show Village was draped in Union Jack bunting and flags for press day – which also coupled as a ‘Support our soldiers day’. We took this picture early on, showing the executive house which shows off our new Verandah concept. More on that in another post! Later as the crowds swooped in a marching band played and jive dancing took place to keep everyone entertained as they waited to go into the houses at Anglian Crescent.

The transformation house in Anglian Crescent is split into two parts – one side of the semi-detached house is functional and well loved, containing 80’s furniture and décor together with original 80’s windows and doors. The other half of the property is fitted with a range of Anglian Home Improvement products to create a direct comparison and to show the huge steps in energy efficient designs over the last two decades.

In the mean time, check out the official Ideal Home Show video for Day 3, with clips of the marching band and everything!

Last attempt to help the windows scrappage scheme through government

Friday, March 19th, 2010

The National Window Scrappage Scheme petition created by the Glass and Glazing Federation is coming to an end and we hope to see a response from the government soon. The deadline for the petition is next Wednesday 24th so if you agree that it would be a good idea for homeowners to get £1000 scrappage for their old windows towards new energy efficient double glazing, then sign up and spread the word!

The petition has already achieved over 4,400 signatures of support.

no 10

The scheme aims to:

“Allow for an improvement to the existing housing stock to reduce Carbon and CO2 emissions and cut household energy bills. The Scheme to be open only to companies who professionally install windows with a C Window Energy Rating or above and who responsibility recycle the existing windows that are removed.”

Months ago the 500 signature threshold was reached meaning a response to the petition from number 10 Downing Street is required.

Please sign the National Window Scrappage Scheme petition and help the country make our houses more energy efficient!
