Fitting a conservatory can add thousands of pounds to the value of a house, according to research published recently by HSBC.

It has been found that this makes it the third most profitable home improvement in terms of added value, after loft conversions and room extensions.

Anglian computers help Broadland get creative with Broadband

Broadland High School in Hoveton has added significant IT resources to their art department with the introduction of nine new computers, donated by local double glazing business Anglian Home Improvements.

The school, recognised as a specialist Maths and ICT institution will use the computers to develop the pupils’ artistic talents, allowing them access to the Internet and other arts based programmes for inspiration and research purposes.

The Federation of Small Businesses ask for reduced rate of tax

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has called upon the government to reduce the rate of tax charged on companies who undertake house renovating work and home improvements.

A poll by the organisation of its members operating in the construction sector found that 59 per cent of them have seen trade falling off recently.

Homeowners spend £16 billion on home improvements

Homeowners in the UK spent a total of £16.6 billion on home improvements and maintenance last year, according to research conducted recently by Lloyds TSB.

The bank said that the figure represented an ever-increasing trend, with spending on improvements such as double glazing and conservatories increasing by around 2.5 billion over the last decade.

Anglian goes yellow for Cancer Research

Anglian staff dressed up in yellow today as part of the international ‘Go Bananas on Fruity Friday’ fundraising campaign for World Cancer Research.

Fruity Friday is an annual awareness and fundraising campaign, held by World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF UK), to increase public awareness of the links between diet, nutrition and cancer prevention, and to raise valuable funds for cancer research and education programmes. Anglian Driveways built to new Government legislation

Extreme-weatherThe effects of climate change could well mean more frequent and heavier rainfall, subsequent flooding due to increased surface water that overwhelms the drainage system to your house. The Government last year introduced legislation which requires planning permission for driveways and introduced additional requirements for installing a driveway with a view to lessoning potential flooding.
